What a Treat!!!

~This would be a real treat bag for your children, grandchildren, or anyone special.

Cutting

1. Cut Halloween panel into two equal-sized pieces.
2. Trim each piece making sure to add seam allowances: 1.  add  1 1/2″ to both panel side borders and 2. add  5/8″ to both the top and the bottom panel borders. The seam allowance is 5/8″.
3. Cut two lining pieces the same size as the panel pieces. You should have 4 pieces. From grosgrain ribbon, cut two handles 10 inches long.

Construction

1. Place a lining piece face-up and attach the handle to the top. Make sure you Do Not Twist the handle. Measured 5″ from the edge for each handle.
2. Place the panel piece face down on top and using a 5/8″ seam allowance sew all layers together: panel top, handle, and lining.
3. Repeat Steps 1-3 with the other panel, lining, and handle
4. After both panel pieces are sewn, iron the seams open.

5. Place the two pieces right sides together, making sure the seams line up.
6. Pin layers together. You shall have a big rectangle to sew. NOTE:  You need to leave an opening to pull the lining through. The top right pictures shows where I put pins so I know where I start and finish to leave an opening. Be sure your opening is made on the lining portion of the rectangle.
7. The bottom left picture demonstrates the lining being pulled through the opening.
8. The center right pictures show where I top stitched the opening closed. If you’d like an invisible seam, you can hand sew the opening closed.
9 Add a 1/4 inch top stitch along the open top of the bag. This gives extra strength to the opening and the handle.

Finished

Look at the wonderful bags I made for my grandchildren. From start to finish it takes about one hour. Hope you enjoy making them as I did. 🙂
