A Day in Carmel-by-the-Sea

– We drove along the coast of Pacific Grove on our way to Carmel. Pacific Grove is a very cute community on the southern end of Monterey Bay. The view of the Pacific Ocean was spectacular.

The north side of Pacific Grove becomes part of Monterey Bay and the west side borders the Pacific Ocean. There is the lighthouse at the point. Point Pinos Lighthouse is open to the public 1-4 pm 5 days, closed Tuesdays and Wednesday. This lighthouse was built in 1855 and is still in use today.

After driving along the coast we finally arrived at the town of Pacific Grove.

Always on the look out for fiber stores, I found a wonderful store yarn shop called Monarch Knitting.   Lots of yarn and spinning supplies. Very friendly. I really enjoyed this shop.

Well, it is off to the cute, quaint, town of Carmel.

Carmel is a great place to walk and shop. There are lots of different shops: antiques in between two buildings, a nursery hidden behind some stores, and a knitting store. There wasn’t any way that I was passing up a knitting store. Perfect name for this shop Knitting by the Sea.  Friendly and lots of gorgeous yarns and goodies to look at. At the southern end of Junipero Avenue, is the Carmel Mission. It is our next stop. 🙂
