Woe is Me

~Some crazy happenings to our family members! Daughter Sarah’s family lives on Oahu, Hawaii and were evacuated around 10:30 pm Sat night because of the threat of a tsunami. A quake off of the Pacific coast of Canada started the alert. Her husband is on the East Coast for a class, so she had to bundle up all four of the kids, one a baby, and get packed alone. To top it off, one of the twins was sick with the stomach flu. Fun times! The phone lines were totally overloaded so thank goodness for Facebook! She was able to update all of us and let us know everything was ok. Our s-i-l, Ernie, is back on the East Coast battening down for Hurricane Sandy. What the heck is going on? It makes all of my complaints about my head cold seem petty. Another mini Santa Ana didn’t help. Whine, whine, whine.

Lounging around I finished Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and The Girl Who Played with Fire. I’m slowly checking out the ebooks for both series from the library. Totally different types of books, but both series have been enjoyable reads. I watched Know Your Wool, a free mini-class offered at Craftsy, by Deb Robson. I really like the note taking feature, as you can see there are a lot of markings along the video when I took notes. So, the plus side of being sick is that it gives you a reason to lay around reading, watching TV, watching computer videos, and feel sorry for yourself. 😎

  2. Hope everybody’s safe and dry! Sandy is finally getting around to our area – strong winds and some rain. We’re still waiting for the full brunt, coming in the next 5-10 hours. We’re making sure to charge all the electronics in case the power goes out!

  3. Sarah and her needing help for the children and Ernie not there to help her evacuate. The Weather Channel is keeping us alert for the East Coast–but there hasn’t been a word about the earthquake on the West–and the same with our daily paper!!
